The Complete Guide to AWS Cloud Computing for Students — Start to Certification
Cloud Infrastructure Team · 2026-07-08
Amazon Web Services commands over 31% of the global cloud market. Every startup, enterprise, and government system is moving workloads to AWS, creating an enormous demand for cloud-skilled professionals in India and globally.
Start Free — AWS Free Tier
AWS offers a generous free tier for 12 months: 750 hours of EC2 virtual server time, 5 GB S3 storage, 1 million Lambda function calls, and free RDS database usage. There is no excuse to not practice on real cloud infrastructure.
Core Services to Master First
- EC2: Virtual servers — launch, configure, connect, and secure Linux/Windows instances
- S3: Object storage for files, images, static website hosting, and data backups
- RDS: Managed relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) without server management
- Lambda: Serverless functions — run code without managing infrastructure
- IAM: Identity and access management — permissions, roles, and security policies
- CloudFront: CDN for global content delivery at low latency
Certification Roadmap
Start with the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) — a foundation-level exam ideal for students. Use the provider’s current exam guide to plan preparation. Completing a Skill Nexis course does not guarantee passing an external certification exam.
